These carved and painted figures are made from railroad spikes found on the side of train tracks. They are representations of the Chinese labor force who built the majority of train tracks in America in the 1800’s. It wasn’t an easy job or an easy life for the Chinese migrant workers who built the railroads. Their ghosts can sometimes be felt when one approaches train tracks.
